Salam everybody!!!...today we will discuss again about our country’s political situation in 1960s especially participation of the people in politics…such a nice issues that can be discussed. Once upon a time…hehe…after independence, our country was administered by political elite, which is UMNO.
Malaysia's predominant political party, the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), has held power in coalition with other parties MCA -Malaysian Chinese Association and MIC-Malaysian Indian Congress since Malaya's independence in 1957. However, the political modernization has occurred during 1960’s. Other parties that exist in this era like Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), and Parti Gerakan as opposition parties.
At this time these political parties were struggling very hard to gain support from the people and why they do so???...jeng3x..actually…they try to prove to the public their strength and their spirit to represent the people of Malaysia which was absolutely good for the development of the country and will bring various benefit to the people.
How about people’s participation on that time??…the participation of the people in the politics was not that much because of lack of education and opportunity. As we know our country was a newly independent state, the citizens were very excited for development. Unfortunately, they did not have enough education to involve in politics…huhu… The government can manipulate the uneducated people to win their heart.
In fact, some of them were educated but, they were still influenced by colonial mentality. Besides, on that time, only few parties occurred. As Malaysian they definitely don’t have choice. So, they have to choose any party to lead this country, right?? As we know, in that era people really obsess about their races, so it will encourage them to choose UMNO.It is because, UMNO is one of the party who struggle for 3 main races in our country and also for country’s independence.
Here, we can conclude that the democratic political culture was there, but the participation of the people was still controlled…you guys agree with us???... Comments are pleasured…

we r agree wif that point, of cos la....at that time more people did not fully participated bcoz they lack of knowledge and less the opportunity to active in da politic.
ReplyDeleteother than that, the politic culture in that time more conquered by the elite group whose have more experience and knowledge about administration. so, we agree about urs point..,,,
that all...tq..he3

ReplyDeleteThank you.
hasmida : in my opinion, i really agreed with the given point. it is because,we are multiple races like india, malay and chiness, the majority races in our country was dominant by the malays races and UMNO will the chosen party by other races.
ReplyDeleteas we know, after independent in we have the problem in administration because we are lack of experience and knowledge about administration.
that all.,,
Zuriana :In my view.....i agree with all point given especially the point that the participation of the people in the politic at this time was not much because lack of knowledge and opportunity.
ReplyDeleteBeside that, this time also conquered with elite group because they have high education and can control citizen in this time.....
Thank you...
Nor farah fazleen ab aziz :I'm totally agreed with that groups said. In during 1960's, many people was not fully participate in politics. It is because mindset of people's still be influences by colonism.
ReplyDeleteOther than that,at that time, the politics parties use many kind of approach to attract the people's more participate in poliics. Especially in rural areas.
If the more people participate, countries can become more develop especially in administration..
that all from me..bye...
see you guys..

ReplyDeleteNur atiqah: as above, i agree with most of the views given by this group.after being colonized for a period, our country needed to struggle..to start from scratch.so, there were so many things to be focused on.that is why, in term of politics, we were left behind at that time.
ReplyDeletefrom the participation of people also was less same as the development of the politics in our country at that time.most of the citizens at that time, they were just follow the majority and worst part, some of them thought, their participation in politics were not that important.
in that period also, so many rights of citizens were left behind.
thats all from me.tq.
Thanks for all the comments given. There's no doubt that the participation of the people in politics during that period of time was not helping much as they were not really exposed with the importance of their participation. But now, the situation is totally different. Most of the youth are really excited to involve in politics. So, why don't we start our first step by registering our names as one of the voters in election?
